A rare example of a Haliotis Rufescens in an unusually large size,it’s 10-1/16”.

It has not been acid cleaned and the exterior of the shell has not been coated with oil or clear lacquer.

You can see where the shell has been worn away rubbing against the rocks.There are some very small holes on the exterior of the shell from burrowing sponge but it is a solid beautiful shell.

The muscle scar where it bonded to the shell shows where it was added onto as it grew.

This is a rare unusual large specimen.

On the interior of the shell,on the muscle scar you’ll see a dark bump.It is where the abalone healed with mother of pearl a spot where a burrowing snail is in the shell,you can see on the exterior a small hole where it breathes and takes in water to filters out plankton.

On the exterior of the shell you can see the bases of mussels and tube worm homes.
