YUM! This is a delightful antique furisode; if I didn\'t keep buying so many of these I would not be selling this one. This kimono has vividly black silk that just eats light like a black hole; you don\'t really see many of these at this age that are still just JET black. I don\'t see any UV damage to this one what so ever. This piece was definitely properly stored. This piece is constructed out of some seriously lush and heavy winter-weight kinsha silk. Beautiful stencil work on the hems and and sleeves; colors are still bright and vivid; this piece is understated but still really fancy. No embroidery; which is always interesting to me. There are a few scattered marks on this piece but they are really light. There is an abrasive wear on the inside of the collar in the lining; see photos; this is from the hiyoku being stitched too tightly into the piece ( I removed this hiyoku because it was heavily oxidized from the starching agent in the silk ); the lining itself is really strong. This is real momi; not metal salt-dye momi, you can tell by the slight yellow cast of the red from the safflower dye. No shreddy spaghettis to this lining. The hiyoku is still in the sleeves and it does have some oxidization; the new owner can chose to remove it if they wish, but it wasn\'t remotely as bad as the body hiyoku so I didn\'t pull it. The biggest \'problem\' to this piece imo is that a lot of the kinsai on the hems have ran away to Timbuktu leaving just the glue and sizing with a bit of gold sheen to it. I think this lends to the antique-ness of this piece, but if you wish to indulge in some free therapy, replacing the kinsai is a fairly easy albeit tedious task. Let me know if you need help with that, I have resources. <3Oh, this piece is probably from the late 1920s. It is possibly a Taisho piece, but the crests are only slightly *big* so I would nudge this into the first years of the Showa period.
