Some might think the clear glass railway lanterns are a bit plain, unlike their cousins red, blue, green and amber. But it couldn't be any clearer that this lantern? This one right here? He's a winner, baby.

Made by Hiram Piper for Canadian National Railway, it not only is CNR branded on the top, it is CNR branded on the glass as well! Yup, etched right there on the glass. A trifle tough to see in the photos (being a whiter spot on a clear glass object on a white background), but you can see it's there! And you'll be able to see it MUCH better in person when you give it a good home.

These lanterns where used by the brakeman swung in the hand to give more common, general signals around the rail yard. They could also be hung at a flag station to signal a train to stop.

All in all a lovely collector's piece as well as a functional lantern! Can't get much better than that.

Measures 14.25" tall by 8.75" by 6" with the handle raised.
