A MENNONITE FAMILY PATCHWORK QUILT c 1920's

Mennonite families followed the tradition of their Amish ancestorsof presenting each child with a quilt when they married. This patchwork quilt was made by Mrs. Yoder and presented to her son, Ray. According to a note attached to the quilt, it was HAND PIECED using scraps of clothing, but Mrs. Yoder ran out of material for the pieces, so used fabric from Rays "little dresses". Each block is surrounded by pink Chambray, with pink Chambray for the borders and back, and pink & white gingham for the frame. The quilt measures 76" x 68", has a very thin cotton batting and a hand applied pink Chambray binding. HAND QUILTED with angle quilting across the pieced blocks, diamond quilting on the sashing, and Chevron quilting on the borders @ 8 stitches per inch. In cleanunwashed condition, there are a couple storage spots (see photos) frombeing stored in acedar chest, but no rips, tears or odors.
