This sale is for a Rare & Vintage 1945, Raise Up Metalworks Trans World Airlines TWA 1/44 Scale, Lockheed L-1049 Super G Constellation Registration #N6908 Solid Heavy Metal Desktop Display Model Airplane with Original Base Stand. This model airplane is a solid one (1) piece designed propeller airliner. This model airplane, measures approximately 30.50\" long x 33.00\" wingspan x 7.50\" tall. The original metal base stand measures approximately 8.50\" in diameter x 5.50\" wide (varies) x 10.00\" tall (varies). The model connects to the upper part of the stand, via three (3) threaded machine screws which connected to the underside of the model airplane. There are two (2) different numbers stamped on the underside of the model airplane, where the model connects to the base stand. They read \"1049\" and \"130\". The model and stand together weigh approximately twenty five (25 lbs.)
I acquired this model from an estate of a former TWA captain pilot, who later worked as an executive for the airline, in their Kansas City, MO corporate office.
Important Detailed Information About The Condition Of This Model Airplane and Base Stand:
The model airplane has many metal chip spots, metal oxidation spots, scratch spots, scuff spots, smudge spots, dirt spots, minor yellowing of the white paint color, rust spots, paint loss, decal loss on various areas of this model. What\'s left of the original decals show some a lot of drying, yellowing and major loss. The wing tip edges, stabilizer edges and tail section edges all show some very minor wear. The base stand also shows some scratch marks, some dirt marks and some smudge marks. The upright metal part of the base stand has a very slight bend in it which can cause the model not to display perfectly straight at times and it also shows some overall rust. The original Raise Up Metalworks wooden crate is unfortunately not included. Overall, this model airplane and base stand in for it\'s age condition for being approximately sixty five (65) years old. I\'ll certainly take care in boxing up this rare model for safe delivery to the sale winner.

As this very large scale model airplane is a solid one (1) piece design, it will require either a wooden crate or a custom double walled heavy cardboard box to be shipped in. It may take me an extra day or two, until I would be able to properly package and ship this model airplane. Please also note that this model airplane is to large to ship internationally via USPS Mail. This large scale model airplane would have to be shipped via FedEx or UPS International Expedited shipping services, The international shipping cost will be extremely expensive, due to the over-sized and weight of this large model airplane. The Lockheed Constellation (\"Connie\") is a propeller-driven, four-engine airliner that was built by Lockheed Corporation between 1943 and 1958 at Burbank, California.
Lockheed built 856 in numerous models—all with the same triple-tail design and dolphin-shaped fuselage. Most were powered by four 18-cylinder Wright R-3350s. The Constellation was used as a civil airliner and as a military and civil air transport, seeing service in the Berlin Airlift and the Biafran airlift. It was the presidential aircraft for Dwight D. Eisenhower.
