P&W Logo History - Ihave an assortment of P&W items and logos including some with the short-lived\"flying pig\" eagle that was used from 1980 to \'89. This totallyredesigned logo was infamously dubbed the \'flying pig\' by employees that had adislike for new redesigned logo because of the appearance it took when it wasturned upside down. Before the radicalredesigned logo of 1980, the vintage P&W logo used from 1925 to 1980 usedthe word \"Aircraft\"- Pratt & Whitney \"Aircraft\", DependableEngines within their logo. After the flying pig logo was finally abandonedaround 1990, P&W went back to using the traditional flying eagle logo andthe word \"Aircraft\" was dropped from the logo and only \"Pratt& Whitney Dependable Engines\" was used from then to current day.

All items are authenticUTC andPratt & Whitneycorporate pieces given to employees andcustomers to promote and advertise the company\'s dependability and prominenceforconsistently providing the best service and most technologically advanced productsin the world of high-performancedependableengines forthemilitary, commercial airlines and space programs for decades.

Many of the pins and tietacks were modified with longer pins by my father while he worked atP&W. He told me he did it so it could be used to stick through theshirt and pocket protector where the standard length pin would not. For several years he was a supervisor over afew different departments and utilized his resources to make thesealterations. It is easy to see whichones were altered evidenced with visible low-temp solder on the back [with the longerpins]. Some of these modifications improved or made nonexistentone-of-a-kind pin back pieces, if desired, pins can be shortened by grinding orcutting. The shops he supervised were shops that corporate headquarters usedfor making special awards and presentation plaques and such for customers, retiring employees and dedications, any alterations were done on a professionallevel. If not shown in all the pictures, all pin backs will have the clipsprovided with the pins.

Most everything offeredare vintage and obscure P&W items: photographs, patches (both embroideredand peel-n-stick), metal engine badges, service awards, and much more, allaccumulated from my father and me through our many years of employment withP&W. Check regularly for newly listed P&Witems as I get the timeto picture and post them.

We are both retired andhave67 years ofcombined service ranging from years 1958 to 2013(some are dated). We both worked in different areas and departments, working mostlygovernment-contractedresearch anddevelopmentfor military aircraft engines as well as the SSME program (SpaceShuttleMainEngine)obtained from the West Palm Beach Florida P&W facilities which first beganoperations in 1958, the year my father started working there, the same year Iwas born. A few items are from the P&W Connecticut East Hartford, main headquarters where I was relocated in 1999 formy continuedemployment until retirement in 2013. My father retired from FloridaP&W in 1993 and most of the items are from his years of employment andsubsequent retirement reunions. He worked many years in the \"mock-up\"department as a bench worker eventually becoming the supervisor which affordedhim access to many unique and rare P&W items, some of which he modified tosuit his or someone else\'s needs.

I use high-resolutionpictures, either with camera or printer scanner, in an attempt to accurately reflectcolors and condition as it should look in person. Unfortunately, because of thehigher resolution, sometimes, the pictures can make some irregularities lookmuch worse than they really are while other times, don\'t always show the realbeauty and condition as if it was being examined in hand by the \'eye of thebeholder\'.
