Beautiful plates by Royal Copenhagen. These are from their annual Christmas plate line.Take note of the signature border of pine cones and pine needles. Always, at the top of the plates, there is a 6 pointed star and on the back 2 holes for displaying. The surface of each plate is smooth and glossy, soft to the touch. The scenes are embossed on Danish porcelain and hand-painted in traditional Copenhagen blue, often referred to as cobalt blue.

Royal Copenhagen was founded in 1775 under the protection of Queen Juliana Marie. It is recognized by its factory marking of 3 wavy lines. The three lines represent Denmark’s three straits, Oresund, Great Belt and Little Belt. Royal Copenhagen began work in a converted post office in 1775. It was founded by French chemist Frantz Heinrich Muller. In 1987 the company merged with its main competitor, Bing and Grondahl.

These plates measure 7 inches in diameter. They in mint condition. There are no chips or cracks. No crazing. There are two holes on the back for hanging. They do not have their original boxes or papers.
