The F-100 was developed as a follow-on to the F-86 Sabre used in the Korean conflict. The F-100 was the world's first production airplane capable of flying faster than the speed of sound in level flight (760 mph). While the later models of the F-100 had a speed in excess of 1000 mph. FSX Marines F-7 Tigercat VMP-254. This is Alphasim's Grumman F-7 Tigercat modified for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. The Grumman F7 Tigercat was the first twin-engined fighter aircraft design to enter service with the United States Navy. Designed for the new Midway-class aircraft carriers, the aircraft were too large to operate from earlier decks. Although delivered to United States Marine Corps (USMC) combat units before the end of World War II, this aircraft served with the VMP 254 Marine Photo Reconnaissance. The Marine unit VMP-254 was commissioned in December, 1946 at MCAS El Toro under the 1st MAW. It was assigned the F-7 Tigercats and later F4F-5P Corsairs, but soon became a paper squadron due to the reduction in forces after WW II. It was decommissioned in December, 1949 and all its assets transferred to 1st MAW HEDRON-1. This aircraft includes a panel by Mel Mutter. Assembled in Los Angeles in 1948, delivered to the USAF in 1949. Retired from military service 1958 and sent to a Fresno scrap yard. Rescued in 1958 and flew again in 1974. Now resident in England and on the UK civil register. This aircraft includes a 2D and 3D F-86 panel by Bob Chicilo. Also includes history and pictures of the actual aircraft. FSX/FS2004 SpaceShipOne flying model of Rutan's White Knight, the carrier plane that took the fantastic SpaceShipOne to altitude. I did not include the SpaceShipOne. The White Knight is just doing circuits during daylight hours, as if it was testing the technology. It is a very so-so model, best seen at a distance. But it is user flyable. With these many objects, I thought the frame rate would be badly affected. It is not too bad. The models are as low-polygon as possible, and you really don't want to look at the parked aircraft too closely.Fern Marques

FSX Republic RC-3 Seabee Amphibian. Republic, better known for their military planes, commenced manufacture of the unusual RC3 Seabee amphibian in 1945 and ceased in 1947 after 1060 units had been made. In 1945 the U.S. Army Air Force and U.S. Navy placed orders for several thousand Seabees for war time air-sea rescue duties but these orders were cancelled when Japan surrendered in August 1945. Today (2009) over 250 Seabees are still registered and flying, mostly in private hands but a few still serve as air taxis and light freight bush planes. FSX-2004 The Luscombe Model 8 was one of those classics in aviation that was recognized for its nice lines, good performance, and excellent flying characteristics from its inception 1n 1938. A two-place side-by-side airplane, the Model 8A was re-marketed shortly after World War II with the intention of fulfilling the “airplane-in-every-garage� ideal. Most of these 100 mph cruise speedsters were powered by Continental four-cylinder 65 hp engines . The best overall description of this particular Luscombe creation was simple: it was a “thoroughbred�! The Model 8A represented the next step in Don Luscombe’s pioneering work in all-metal aircraft design. In the early years of company history, he had little competition in that category, but the widespread production of all-metal military aircraft during World War II propelled several of Luscombe’s competitors directly into this market. Eventually the proliferation of these types drove Luscombe in bankruptcy. Today it remains popular as a classic aircraft. This Aircraft served at the Army Aviation Facility in Winder Ga. with the Georgia Army National Guard from 1978-1985. Includes history and pictures of the actual aircraft. FS2004/FSX SP1 Hughes XF-11/R-11A: FS2004/FSX SP1 Hughes XF-11/R-11A -

FS2004/FSX SP1 Hughes XF-11/R-11A. Four repaints for the XF-11. This is the whole model package. This is another freeware lost classic, with a very nice VC, nice model, and blistering performance. If you want to blast along at 400+ kts/50,000 feet behind 56 cylinders, 8720 cu. in., and 16 prop blades, this is your machine. Ian Lawrence produced the original model, and Craig Richardson at Classic Wings put the cockpit in it and polished the original textures and FDE. This package adds four 'what if?' textures for the machine, if it had made it into service, as the R-11A/WR-11A, in the '49-54 period. The 'Square I' marking and black anti-searchlight scheme was carried by RB-45C Tornado's operating out of Japan during the Korean war. The other two schemes, comform to markings and color schemes carried by contemporary USAF aeroplanes. The model was an FS2002/FS2004 model, but runs very nicely in FSX SP1, with excellent frame rates, a perfect cockpit, and minor 'clouds in front' prop issues in some aspects (no where near as bad as some others). The original functionality Scott built into it is preserved, and the following new features are added: 1) Precise ILS and TACAN navigation for aircraft carriers (including moving carriers) that allow carrier landings in low visibility and at night. 2) The HUD symbology is conformal to the outside world: the horizon bar stays on the horizon, velocity vector shows actual flight path as read against the outside world (if you keep your vector pointed at a certain spot on the runway, this is exactly where you will land). 3) Caged mode with ghost vector for use in heavy side wind conditions. 4) Elements repositioned to make the HUD look as close as possible to the real Hornet HUD. FSX Saunders Roe SR-45: FSX Saunders Roe SR-45 -

FSX Saunders Roe SR-45 "Princess". The SR-45 first flew in 1952 and was one of the largest flying boats ever built. It was overshadowed by the upcoming land based 707 and DC-8 so only one was finished and test flown. This is a native FSX Acceleration project. It has the usual animations, specular shine, .dds textures, reverse thrust, and turbine smoke that turns on and off as a function of throttle position. The VC is based on a photo and has animated flight and engine controls. There is no 2D panel. There are two liveries, the factory paint and the proposed BOAC livery. By Paul Clawson.

This build is far from being perfect as several bugs are still present (mainly in the cockpit) - However, as I am not sure I will have the time to fix them in a reasonable time, I decided to release it as is now. Fixes to the existing bugs will be made available through updates asap. This update introduces specula mapping for the external model.
