I know there is an EDDT scenery by Aerosoft and this looks much better.
But it's payware and requires a fast computer.
So I decided there should be a freeware scenery as well and took some
google and airliners.net pictures, sime free days and did it.
I like to see jetways and an idea of the airport buildings, lights
and so on. I don't like too many static vehicles or ground textures,
they often don't look good, flicker from distance or don't have the
right seasonal look.
So I created the terminal, cargo, catering and stuff buildings,
large hangar and tower, took some RWY12 objects for other buildings
and lights and used ScenegenX to create customized stock buildings
for the military apron and Air Berlin terminal (unfortunatly I didn't
find any photos usable to take textures for the Air Berlin terminal from).
So it's better than the stock airport but not comparable
to Aerosoft's payware.
Compatibility
I used Google Earth Grid to position parking spots, taxiways and
buildings.
The stock airport (FS9) park positions and taxiway are somewhat shiftet to
the south (civil apron) or north (military apron). The runway positions
are correct. FSX park positions are shifted to the east. For multiplayer
game, if the other players use stock airports, this won't fit.
I've found an AFCAD that should fit for Aerosoft's scenery, and compared
with this I think the positions should fit. Because I don't own Aerosoft's
scenery I cannot check this.
No problem with sceneries as "german rivers", "brandenburg buildings"
or european mesh. "Tempelhof 1962" places a line of power poles through
the military apron, wich cannot be excluded (exclude files covers streets,
rivers, railways only).
If you notice trees or buildings at taxiways I've includet an exclude
file and a LOD5 ground file you can copy into the scenery folder, maybe
this helps.
Installation
(FS9 and FSX)
In the zip file you will find:
eddt-light
|
`---scenery (EDDT..., kleinkram..., lampen..., tegel3....bgl)
`---lib
|
`---scenery (myobj....bgl)
`---texture (author..., geese... zinc.bmp)
`---texture (LAMPE..., tegel..., zinc.bmp)
`0txlexcl.gbl, txlgnd_5.bgl
Copy the eddt-light folder into a folder of your choice and acivate as usual.
Objects from the following RWY12 libraries has been used:
206b
add_birds
add_dwag_hangers
add_seevKahn
add_Todd_Lucas_Objects
Chopper trailers
fs9_jetways_ss_1
goff_hangarB
large_hangers_ss V2
MaintenancePlatforms
Objects01_lib
RampLight_Library
According to the open letter of RWY12 authors I don't ask you to install the
entire RWY12 program and libs. I decided not to include all the libs but extract
the used objects only and put them into one file. You have the choice:
1 If you have installed the RWY12 libraries (as above) in your addon
sceneries and find all of the texture files from eddt-lightlib exture
already in your system you don't need to install this again and you can
remove the folder "lib".
2 If you don't have all of these libraries, move the "mylibobj.bgl" into the
eddt-lightscenery folder and the *.bmp files of the lib exture folder
into eddt-light exture folder.
3 Alternative for step 2: move bgl and textures into addon sceneryscenery
rsp. addon scenery exture folder.
- If you don't like the lights, remove lampen.bgl.
- If you don't like the additional buildings or tower obscacle lights,
remove eddt-builds.bgl.
- If you don't like the fuel truck, stairs and so on, remove kleinkram.bgl and/or
kleinkram2.bgl.
Missing textures
Many scenery designers use RWY12 libs. They include libs into their scenery
tree, but include the used textures only. If another scenery uses objects
from the same lib the textures are missing, even if they include them into
their texture folder, 'cause FS uses the texture folder of the first found
version of the lib. Unfortunatly some designers rename the RWY12 lib files,
so it's a little bit tricky to find the duplicates...
Try to find the duplicate libs, join them and the textures in one scenery
folder and hope you didn't miss one.
Freeware, free distribution only.
You are allowed to modify the scenery (for instance, if you get more
informations of buildings or little different coordinates for runways).
